Lunch and Learn: Trees, Trees, and More Trees

Please join us on Thursday, June 8 to learn about trees.  Our event will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery.  We will start off with a walking tour which will focus on the notable historic trees at Cedar Hill.  The walking tour will be led by John Kehoe.  Mr. Kehoe is currently an Adjunct Instructor teaching “Fundamentals of Arboriculture” for the College of Agriculture (NRME) at the University of Connecticut.  Next, a staff member will walk us through the process of planting a tree, including scouting a location, planting at the correct depth, and keeping the tree healthy for years to come. No need to watch a YouTube video for this as there will be a live demonstration!  Then time for lunch and networking.  We will end our event with a talk by Doak Marasco of The Davey Tree Expert Company.  He will speak about the steps to create a new arboretum and to build your arboretum’s capacity to upgrade to a higher level of accreditation.
